Peru is a country with 30 million people, more than 3 million have some disability. Arequipa is the city with the greatest number of people with special abilities (11%), and of these, the third part has difficulties in learning.

According to studies, the biggest problem faced by these people is the lack of access to education because many regular schools are reluctant to include children with intellectual disabilities in their classrooms and because there are few special schools and few specialized professionals.

In Unámonos we work with low income families in Arequipa who have children with intellectual disabilities. We help them from our special school and from different programs that tend to their social inclusion. Our programs emphasize on the development of babies, children and young people, and also on the acceptance of disability by their families. In addition, we get many of them to work actively in different companies in our city.
